Ohio - Kings Island has announced exciting new additions for its 2025 season, particularly focusing on enhancing the Soak City water park.
The most notable addition is RiverRacers, Ohio’s first and only dual-racing water coaster.
RiverRacers begins with an exhilarating drop, launching riders down a steep incline at speeds of up to 30 mph (48 km/h). From there, the course takes an innovative turn as water jets propel the rafts uphill, a feature that distinguishes it from traditional water slides. This uphill momentum leads riders into a series of mirrored twists and turns, designed to keep the competition fierce as they navigate the course.
A particularly exciting feature of RiverRacers is an enclosed tunnel section, where special lighting effects create a dynamic, immersive environment. After exiting the tunnel, riders face an open-air, high-banking slingshot that turns them around 180 degrees, setting the stage for the final, thrilling descent toward the finish line. The layout of the ride ensures that every race could end differently, adding to the excitement and replay value.
In addition to RiverRacers, Kings Island is also introducing Splash River Junction, a new play area designed for children. This area will feature seven new water slides, including the Salamander Sliders, which offer gentle slopes and turns suitable for younger guests. Another highlight is the reimagined Bluegill Lagoon, styled as an old-fashioned swimming hole complete with a playful water tower and plenty of shaded relaxation spots.
The park is also promoting its 2025 season passes, which are already available for purchase and include admission for the remainder of 2024.
