Germany - Rulantica, the water world of Europa-Park, has reopened its interactive water carousel, Tønnevirvel, after a two-and-a-half-month construction period.
The attraction now features a ten-sided building with a 28-meter diameter, providing a weather-independent experience for guests. The new structure includes a transparent roof and folding glass walls, allowing for an outdoor ambiance during warmer months.
Tønnevirvel’s Evolution
Introduced in July 2022, Tønnevirvel is a Twist’n’Splash ride from Mack Rides, marking its first installation within a water park. The ride consists of nine round boats, each accommodating up to six passengers, equipped with large water spray guns for interactive water battles. Initially an outdoor attraction, Tønnevirvel operated seasonally, with a temporary heated tent inr 2022 to facilitate winter use.
Enhancements for Year-Round Operation
The recent construction aimed to provide a permanent solution for year-round operation. The newly erected building offers direct access from Rulantica’s main hall, ensuring seamless integration with the indoor facilities. The transparent roof and retractable glass walls enable an open-air experience during favorable weather, enhancing guest comfort and attraction accessibility.
Upcoming Additions to Rulantica
Looking ahead, Rulantica plans to expand its offerings with the introduction of the “Svømmepøl” outdoor pool in early summer 2025. This new feature will provide space for lap swimming, leisurely splashing, and relaxation at a swim-up bar. Additionally, the “Nørd Havn” area is set to include a restaurant, sunbathing zones, and a children’s play area, further enhancing the park’s appeal to diverse age groups.
