United Kingdom - Alton Towers has made headlines by appointing a 72-year-old grandmother as its first Chief Thrillseeker.

Jackie Smith, a grandmother of four, will be testing the park’s various roller coasters and thrill rides.

Jackie brings a remarkable background to this role. At 19, she became the first woman to join the Parachute Regiment of the Red Devils in 1971 and earned the prestigious Red Beret within two years. Throughout her career, she completed 5,000 parachute jumps.

Now, Jackie is set to ensure all of Alton Towers’ rides deliver the ultimate thrill experience.
