Texas - SeaWorld San Antonio is set to undergo a significant expansion with the addition of a new $6 million themed area.
This ambitious project, revealed in a report by the Orlando Business Journal, will cover nearly 150,000 square feet and is scheduled to break ground this autumn, with completion expected by spring next year.
The initial state filing refers to the endeavor as a “confidential project,” which includes both new construction and renovations. Although the specifics remain under wraps, the filing previously mentioned the name “Rescue Jr,” hinting at a potential theme.
This follows SeaWorld San Diego’s successful launch last year of its Rescue Jr play area, featuring rides, water elements, and climbing structures, all themed around the park’s animal rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
SeaWorld San Antonio has been actively enhancing its attractions. Earlier this year, the park introduced Catapult Falls, the world’s steepest flume coaster and the only flume ride in North America with a vertical lift.
In addition to ride expansions, SeaWorld San Antonio has invested in sustainability. Last year, the park installed a state-of-the-art solar canopy, generating 16 percent of its electricity and providing shade for 1,200 parking spots.
