Spain - The long-anticipated Siam Park project in Gran Canaria (Spain) has finally received approval to move forward, marking a significant development for the region’s tourism sector.
The new water park, which will be the sister park to the renowned Siam Park in Tenerife, is set to become one of the largest water parks in Europe.
The Gran Canaria Government has approved the new Modernisation, Improvement, and Competitiveness Plan for the El Veril area, located between Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas.
This plan includes the construction of the new Siam Park, along with a 300-bed hotel and additional green spaces.
The project is expected to invigorate the local economy by attracting more tourists and creating approximately 1,000 jobs during construction and 600 permanent positions once operational.
Siam Park Gran Canaria will feature unique attractions, including the “Tree of Life,” a 32-meter tall artificial tree with integrated slides and bridges, and entrance corridors flanked by elephant sculptures.
The park will also offer a wider beach area, a Lazy River, an Adrenaline Mountain, a Beach Club, and a children’s area designed like a Thai village.
Preliminary topographical and conditioning work for the El Veril site has already begun.
Despite facing numerous bureaucratic delays since the project’s inception in 2015, the Kiessling family, owners of the Loro Parque group, have remained committed to bringing this project to fruition.
The introduction of Siam Park in Gran Canaria is seen as a strategic enhancement for the region, expected to bolster family tourism and stimulate economic growth.
The park aims to attract visitors globally, enhancing Gran Canaria’s reputation as a premier tourist destination.
