Virginia - While the announcement of Kings Dominion’s addition for next year is scheduled for later today, the name and some details seem to have already been leaked.
A Facebook advertisement from the park shows a visual of the new B&M Wing Coaster with the logo and the name “Rapterra.”
The main selling point has also been revealed: Rapterra will be the tallest and longest B&M launched Wing Coaster in the world. Considering there are only a handful of Wing Coasters in the world, and just a few of them are launched, it is not difficult to claim the longest and tallest title.
Rapterra will be built on the site where Volcano was located until a few years ago. Volcano: The Blast Coaster was a popular inverted roller coaster at Kings Dominion. Opened in 1998, it was notable for its unique launch system that propelled riders out of a volcano structure and through a series of inversions and tight turns. It was themed around a volcanic eruption and offered a thrilling experience with speeds reaching up to 70 mph. The ride operated until 2018 and was celebrated for its innovative design and intense ride experience.
Leaked plans indicate that Rapterra will feature an uphill launch and multiple inversions. The coaster will include a large launch building and immersive theming elements, enhancing the park’s Jungle X-Pedition area.
We look forward to more details that will be revealed by the park later today.
