Kings Dominion to Introduce New Roller Coaster “Rapterra” in 2025

Virginia - Kings Dominion, located in Virginia (United Stated), has announced the addition of a new roller coaster, “Rapterra,” set to open in 2025.

Rapterra will be a Launched Wing coaster, a type known for providing an exhilarating flight-like experience. The coaster will feature a tallest point of 44 meters (145 feet) and a launch speed of 105 kilometers per hour (65 miles per hour).

Riders will experience three inversions, including a dive loop, a flat spin corkscrew, and a 360° raptor roll. The coaster will span a track length of 940 meters (3,086 feet) and have a ride duration of 89 seconds.

Using electromagnetic propulsion, Rapterra blasts riders straight out of the station, accelerating from 0 to 105 kilometers per hour (65 miles per hour) in just 4 seconds—mimicking the swift attack of a Jungle Hawk on its prey.

The ride will operate with two trains, each capable of carrying 20 riders. This setup ensures a smooth and efficient ride operation, allowing more guests to enjoy the attraction.

The theme of Rapterra involves a mythical journey. Inspired by the powerful Jungle Hawk, Rapterra offers riders the sensation of flight. As guests board the coaster, they become part of this myth, soaring through the air as if on the wings of these powerful creatures.
