United Kingdom - “Project Ocean” is the codename for a new flat ride currently under development at Alton Towers, set to be located in the Forbidden Valley area of the park.
This new attraction will replace the former Funk n Fly ride, which itself temporarily filled the space left by the popular Ripsaw, a Top Spin ride that was removed in 2015.
The specifics of the ride remain under wraps, but the construction plans reveal that it will stand about 59 feet (18 meters) tall and be built on top of a structure with a pedestrian underpass leading to nearby attractions like Galactica and the Rollercoaster Restaurant. Speculation among enthusiasts suggests it could be a suspended Top Spin model similar to Talocan at Phantasialand or Vortex at SeaWorld Australia, potentially incorporating water elements, although this has not been confirmed.
Construction is well underway, with fences erected around the site and work visible from certain vantage points in the park. The ride is anticipated to open at the start of the 2025 season, adding another thrilling experience to the Forbidden Valley area alongside the newly revamped Nemesis coaster
