Florida - At the 2024 D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, held in Anaheim, California, Disney unveiled numerous new developments planned for its theme parks. One of the key announcements made during the “Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase” was the reimagining of the popular Test Track attraction at EPCOT.
The updated version, developed in collaboration with Chevrolet, is slated to open in 2025 and promises to offer a fresh take on the beloved ride while celebrating the history and future of automotive innovation.
Test Track has been a staple of EPCOT since it first opened in 1999. Initially designed as a high-speed test-drive experience, the ride allowed guests to experience various vehicle testing procedures, such as brake tests, handling maneuvers, and crash simulations.
In 2012, the attraction underwent its first major refurbishment, transforming it into a more futuristic design lab where guests could design their own virtual vehicle and then take it for a simulated test drive.
The 2025 reimagining of Test Track will build on this legacy, introducing new elements that highlight the past, present, and future of automotive technology. According to the announcement at D23, the queue will feature six distinct exhibits, each celebrating the vehicles and the innovators behind them who have pushed the boundaries of transportation.
This new narrative approach aims to provide a deeper connection between guests and the history of mobility, emphasizing the role of human ingenuity in shaping our transportation future.
The ride itself will also feature new show scenes that focus on onboard technology, customization, and personalization, key aspects of modern vehicle design. These additions will be followed by a scenic route, designed to evoke the simple pleasures of driving, such as taking in the world around us and spending time with loved ones. This segment is a nod to the original pavilion design, reflecting a return to the roots of the Test Track experience.
Construction on the reimagined Test Track has already begun, with some visitors noting changes to the attraction’s exterior that hint at its updated theme. The project is part of EPCOT’s broader transformation, which has been underway for several years, aimed at modernizing the park while staying true to its original mission of celebrating human achievement and innovation.
As the opening date approaches, more details about the reimagined Test Track are expected to be revealed, offering a glimpse into the future of one of EPCOT’s most popular rides.
