Cedar Point Announces ‘Siren’s Curse’ for 2025: North America’s Tallest Tilt Coaster

Ohio - Cedar Point, renowned as “The Roller Coaster Capital of the World,” has unveiled plans for its latest attraction, Siren’s Curse, set to debut in 2025.

This Vekoma-designed tilt coaster will be the tallest, longest, and fastest of its kind in North America, featuring a unique tilting track mechanism that transitions riders from a horizontal to a vertical position before releasing them into a thrilling descent.

Innovative Design and Thrilling Features

“Siren’s Curse” will offer an exhilarating experience with its 2,966 feet of track, reaching speeds up to 58 mph. Riders will encounter two corkscrew inversions, 13 airtime moments, and a high-speed “triple-down” element with twisted and overbanked sections. The coaster’s 24-passenger trains will be equipped with integrated audio and LED lighting, enhancing the immersive experience.

Thematic Elements and Backstory

Drawing inspiration from the lore of Lake Erie’s mythical sirens, “Siren’s Curse” aims to immerse riders in a narrative where enchanting songs lure sailors to their doom. Cedar Point’s Vice President and General Manager, Carrie Boldman, stated, “The entire ride is an experience filled with non-stop action, but that first precarious tilted position where you’re hanging on – looking straight down – and waiting for the track to connect will be a signature moment our fans will love.”

Evolution of Vekoma’s Tilt Coaster

Vekoma’s journey with tilt coasters began with “Gravity Max,” which opened in 2002 at Lihpao Land in Taiwan. This pioneering design featured a section of track that tilted 90 degrees, allowing the train to drop vertically—a groundbreaking concept at the time.

Building upon this innovation, Vekoma has developed a new generation of tilt coasters, incorporating advanced engineering and enhanced rider experiences. “Siren’s Curse” at Cedar Point exemplifies this evolution, offering a more immersive and thrilling ride. Similarly, Six Flags Qiddiya in Saudi Arabia is constructing “Iron Rattler,” another Vekoma tilt coaster set to open in 2025. “Iron Rattler” is poised to be the world’s tallest tilt coaster, featuring a 63.4-meter height and speeds up to 118 km/h.

Cedar Point’s Legacy of Record-Breaking Attractions

Cedar Point has a history of introducing groundbreaking rides, including “Steel Vengeance,” the world’s first steel-on-wood hybrid coaster, and “Top Thrill Dragster,” which was the tallest and fastest coaster globally at its debut. The park’s commitment to innovation is further exemplified by the transformation of “Top Thrill Dragster” into “Top Thrill 2”. However, “Top Thrill 2” faced operational challenges shortly after its debut, leading to an indefinite closure for mechanical modifications.

Anticipated Impact and Guest Experience

The introduction of “Siren’s Curse” is expected to attract coaster enthusiasts and thrill-seekers from across the nation. Its unique tilting mechanism and thematic storytelling aim to provide a memorable experience, reinforcing Cedar Point’s status as a premier destination for amusement park aficionados.
