Florida - As of July 24, 2024, Disney Genie+ is officially retired, and Walt Disney World has introduced a new skip-the-line system known as Lightning Lane Pass.
This updated system features two options: Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass, designed to streamline the experience and enhance guest planning capabilities.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass
The Lightning Lane Multi Pass allows guests to make up to three advance selections per day for attractions within a single theme park. Guests can choose available times for these attractions when making their selections, providing more certainty and flexibility in planning their day. Once these initial selections are used, guests can make additional selections through the My Disney Experience app, based on availability.
Lightning Lane Single Pass
The Lightning Lane Single Pass replaces the former Individual Lightning Lane option, enabling guests to secure access to high-demand attractions individually. This pass can also be planned and purchased in advance, allowing for a more relaxed and organized vacation experience.
Planning Ahead
Guests staying at Disney Resort hotels and select other accommodations can plan their Lightning Lane passes up to seven days in advance for their entire stay, up to a maximum of 14 days. Other guests have a three-day advance window. This new planning feature aims to reduce the need for on-the-fly decisions during the visit, enabling guests to better coordinate their ride schedules with dining reservations and other activities.
Pricing and Availability
The pricing for Lightning Lane passes varies depending on the date and demand. For instance, prices might fluctuate during peak seasons or special events.
Multi-Park Access
For those with Park Hopper tickets, the Lightning Lane Multi Pass can be used across multiple parks once the initial three selections have been used. This offers a better transition from one park to another without losing the benefits of the pass.
Enhanced Guest Experience
Disney aims to blend the best features of past systems like FastPass+ with the modern conveniences of the My Disney Experience app. The introduction of Lightning Lane Passes marks a significant shift in how guests navigate and enjoy Walt Disney World, focusing on pre-planning and flexibility to enhance the magical experience for everyone.
