Ohio - Kings Island is considering a significant expansion of its legendary wooden roller coaster, The Beast, which could see it extended to an astonishing 10,000 feet (3,048 meters).
This proposal was included in a survey sent to season pass holders, seeking feedback on what they would like to see replace the now-demolished Vortex roller coaster.
The proposed expansion would include a dramatic new drop of 184 feet (56 meters), utilizing the space where Vortex once stood. This extension would not only increase the length of The Beast but also boost its top speed to 74 mph (120 km/h), making it the fastest wooden coaster in the world. If realized, these changes would allow The Beast to reclaim its title as the tallest and fastest wooden roller coaster globally while retaining its record as the longest.
The Beast, originally opened in 1979, has long been a fan favorite and a significant draw for the park, known for its sprawling layout and intense ride experience through dense woodland. This expansion would only enhance its legendary status, ensuring that it continues to be a must-ride attraction for coaster enthusiasts.
Kings Island has a history of pushing the boundaries of coaster design, and this potential upgrade to The Beast would be a continuation of that tradition, keeping the park at the forefront of the theme park industry.
While no official announcement has been made, the survey indicates that Kings Island is seriously exploring this idea. If approved, this expansion could be one of the most exciting developments in the theme park world in the coming years.
