Sweden - Kolmården Zoo is set to unveil its largest expansion yet in 2025 with the introduction of Trollskogen, a magical new area within the popular Bamses Värld section.
The expansion will cover approximately 4,000 square meters and is designed to immerse families in a whimsical world filled with surprises and adventures.
The Trollskogen area, which translates to “The Troll Forest,” will feature a whimsical landscape filled with life-sized trolls, mythical creatures, and immersive storytelling. This expansion will not only offer fun for families but will also educate guests about the rich traditions of Swedish folklore.
Visitors will be able to explore Trollslottet, a joyful castle, and participate in activities like Krokodilfloden, a water attraction, and Hia Hias Draknäste, promising thrilling challenges. The expansion aims to ensure accessibility for all visitors, including those with physical limitations.
Christine Karmfalk, CEO of Kolmården, highlighted that this expansion coincides with the zoo’s 60th anniversary and the tenth anniversary of Bamses Värld. Designed by Jora Vision, the new area emphasizes inclusivity and imaginative play, aiming to enchant guests of all ages when it opens in summer 2025.
Kolmården is renowned for its diverse animal population and exciting rides. The park is home to the fastest and tallest wooden roller coaster in Europe, Wildfire, which has won numerous awards for its thrilling experience. Additionally, the Safari Gondola ride allows visitors to observe exotic animals like giraffes and lions from above, enhancing the park’s commitment to providing a unique wildlife experience
Beyond entertainment, Kolmården is dedicated to animal welfare and conservation efforts. The park houses species that are often underrepresented in zoos, including Indian elephants and various endangered animals. By integrating new attractions like Trollskogen, Kolmården continues to foster a connection between guests and wildlife, encouraging awareness and appreciation of nature
