Hong Kong - During the recent D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, Disney announced several exciting new additions to its global theme parks.
Among these was a significant expansion of the Stark Expo at Hong Kong Disneyland, which will include an all-new Spider-Man-themed attraction. This announcement was made during the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase by Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences at the Walt Disney Company.
The new attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland will center around Tony Stark, Iron Man, and his collaboration with Peter Parker, the young hero better known as Spider-Man. The storyline reveals that Peter Parker, intern at Stark Industries, has been invited by Tony Stark to showcase some of his latest inventions at the Stark Expo. However, this event quickly attracts the attention of one of Spider-Man’s most formidable villains, leading to an action-packed adventure where guests are thrust into the middle of the chaos.
In one of the concept artworks revealed during the presentation, the infamous villain Doctor Octopus, also known as Doc Ock, can be seen menacingly looming over the action. This suggests that Doc Ock will play a central role in the new attraction, further heightening the stakes as guests join Spider-Man in his battle to protect Stark Industries’ latest technological advancements.
While specific details about the ride’s design and mechanics were not disclosed during the presentation, the attraction is expected to combine immersive storytelling with cutting-edge technology, much like other recent Spider-Man attractions in Disney parks.
This new addition will further expand the Stark Expo area of Hong Kong Disneyland, which already features attractions like Iron Man Experience, a 3D motion simulator ride that opened in 2017 as the park’s first Marvel-themed attraction.
Hong Kong Disneyland has been undergoing significant expansions in recent years, with new attractions and areas being added to enhance the park’s appeal to both local and international visitors. As with other recent announcements made at D23, the timeline for the opening of this new Spider-Man attraction has not yet been confirmed.
