Saudi Arabia - The Qiddiya Project in Saudi Arabia, part of the Vision 2030 initiative, is set to become a premier global hub for entertainment, sports, and culture.
Located 40 minutes from the capital Riyadh, it aims to attract 48 million visitors annually when completed, according to Jamie Ryder, a partner at Reed Smith’s Entertainment & Media Industry Group in an interview with Arab News.
The project is expected to draw local visitors and global tourists alike, boosting the local economy and creating numerous job opportunities for Saudi youth.
Launched in 2018, the project is expected to generate 325,000 jobs and contribute SAR 135 billion annually to the GDP.
Key attractions include Six Flags Qiddiya (theme park), Dragon Ball Park (theme park), Aquarabia (water park), and a dedicated gaming and esports district.
Six Flags Qiddiya will offer 28 rides, including Falcon’s Flight, the world’s tallest, fastest, and longest roller coaster. Aquarabia will feature 22 rides, including the world’s tallest water coaster, Junoon Drop, and the longest water slide, Slithereel. Additionally, the Dragon Ball theme park will span 500,000 square meters with 30 themed rides.
The Qiddiya Project is progressing rapidly with significant investments in construction. It aims to enhance Riyadh’s global strategic position and improve the quality of life by offering entertainment experiences, as outlined in the Vision 2030 ambition.
In line with sustainability goals, Aquarabia and Six Flags Qiddiya City aim to recycle over 80% of operational waste and reduce water waste by 90% using innovative water and waste management systems.
These efforts reflect Saudi Arabia’s commitment to environmental responsibility while fostering a thriving tourism sector.
Overall, the Qiddiya Project is designed to position Saudi Arabia as a top international entertainment destination, contributing to economic diversification and Vision 2030 goals.
