SeaWorld San Antonio Welcomes Second Pacific White-Sided Dolphin Calf in Weeks

Texas - SeaWorld San Antonio has announced the birth of its second Pacific white-sided dolphin calf in recent weeks, continuing the park’s streak of new arrivals.

The calf, born to 17-year-old Ohana, measures 19 inches and weighs 21 pounds. This follows the birth of another dolphin calf and a beluga whale calf in late June. The zoological team, under Curator Katie Kolodziej, is providing round-the-clock care to ensure the well-being of the new additions. Park visitors have the opportunity to see the newborns and receive updates from the staff.

The births underscore SeaWorld’s dedication to marine conservation and species management, with significant emphasis on breeding programs and animal welfare. Kolodziej expressed excitement over the successful births and the team’s ongoing efforts to monitor and support the calves’ development. These recent additions are part of a broader initiative at SeaWorld to educate the public about marine life and conservation. The presence of the calves provides a unique learning experience for guests, who can witness firsthand the early stages of marine mammal development.

This surge in births at SeaWorld San Antonio highlights the effectiveness of their breeding programs and the expert care provided by the zoological team. The park’s focus on creating a nurturing environment for marine life is reflected in the successful births and the health of the new calves. As these young dolphins and the beluga whale grow, they will play a crucial role in the park’s educational and conservation missions, inspiring visitors to appreciate and protect marine ecosystems.
