California - A strike at Disneyland has been averted after trade unions representing 14,000 cast members reached a tentative contract agreement with Disney.
The Disney Workers Rising Bargaining Committee announced the deal following two days of intense negotiations, just after union members had overwhelmingly authorized a strike.
The new three-year contract includes significant wage increases, seniority rises, and improved attendance policies.
Cast members will vote on the agreement on July 29. With a tentative agreement reached, the likelihood of a strike has diminished. However, if workers reject the contract, a strike remains possible, although the chances seem slim.
Disneyland expressed satisfaction with the outcome, emphasizing its commitment to the wellbeing of its employees.
The unions had previously filed unfair labor practice charges, seeking fair wages and safer working conditions.
