Virginia - The $5 meal deal trend, a strategy initially popularized by fast-food giants like McDonald’s and Burger King, has now made its way into the amusement park industry.
This American trend aims to attract budget-conscious customers by offering substantial meals at a low price point.
Recently, Busch Gardens Williamsburg became the first theme park to adopt this approach, offering visitors a meal consisting of a hot dog, chips, and a fountain drink for just $5.
This deal is available daily from 11 AM to 7 PM at Grogan’s Grill and runs through August 14.
The $5 meal deal trend began with McDonald’s introduction of its $5 Meal Deal in June 2024. This promotion includes a sandwich, chicken nuggets, fries, and a drink, designed to increase foot traffic and appeal to price-sensitive consumers amid rising food costs.
The initial results were promising, with a reported 8% increase in visits on the launch day, prompting McDonald’s to extend the deal beyond its initial four-week window.
Following McDonald’s success, Burger King launched its $5 Your Way Meal, offering a choice of a Whopper Jr., Bacon Cheeseburger, or Chicken Jr., plus fries, a four-piece chicken nuggets, and a soft drink.
This move sparked a competitive wave among fast-food chains, each vying to attract the price-sensitive segment of the market.
