California - Universal Studios Hollywood has announced the construction of its first high-speed outdoor roller coaster, “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift.”
This new attraction, inspired by the “Fast & Furious” franchise, is designed to deliver high-speed chases and dynamic stunts.
The “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” coaster will be a notable addition to Universal Studios Hollywood, marking the park’s first venture into high-speed outdoor roller coasters.
The ride aims to replicate the excitement and action of the “Fast & Furious” films, featuring high-speed sections and drift-style turns similar to the car chase scenes from the movies. Riders will encounter sharp twists, rapid accelerations, and sudden decelerations, creating the sensation of being in a high-speed car chase. The ride will also incorporate thematic elements from the franchise, including characters, cars, and recreated scenes.
The construction of “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” is progressing, with significant work already completed on the coaster’s structure. The ride is being built on the lower lot of Universal Studios Hollywood, replacing an area that previously housed other attractions.
The project began in early 2024, with rapid progress on foundational work and structural components. As of mid-2024, the track layout is nearing completion, and installation of thematic elements and ride systems is ongoing. The project remains on schedule for its anticipated opening in 2026.
Universal Studios Hollywood expects “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” to attract a wide range of visitors, including fans of the franchise and thrill-seekers.
The coaster’s high-speed design and immersive theming are anticipated to set a new standard for roller coaster experiences at the park. The introduction of this coaster is part of Universal Studios Hollywood’s broader strategy to enhance visitor experiences by adding more dynamic attractions.
Universal Studios Hollywood executives have expressed their enthusiasm about the new attraction. “We’re excited to bring the world of ‘Fast & Furious’ to life in a new way,” said a spokesperson. “This coaster will offer our guests a unique experience, combining high-speed racing with immersive storytelling.”
